Members of University of Tennessee Fraternities shared food, games and fun with potential little brothers Saturday afternoon. The fraternities organized and implemented the event to promote Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee’s mission of mentoring children who are in high-risk situations. The boys enjoyed football games, a cook out and most importantly, had the opportunity to spend time with positive adult role models in their community. If you missed this opportunity, Big Brothers Big Sisters is always seeking positive mentors to join our volunteer team or you may make a donation at www.bbbsetn.org.

Enterprise Leadership Academy

Thursday, February 10th, 2011

Big Brothers Big Sisters has been fortunate to partner with Enterprise Holdings again this year to present the Enterprise Leadership Academy for Littles ages 14-18.  Enterprise will be hosting 12 chosen participants at their Knoxville office for five Saturday mornings (March 12 – April 2) to teach them about leadership, career opportunities and professional development.  This academy is free of cost and is a great opportunity to help Littles start on a path toward a bright future.

The academy starts with a “Dress for Success” session where Littles and Bigs head to Burlington Coat Factory to pick out a free suit! The following week, Littles will learn the importance of managing money and the basics to writing a resume. On the third Saturday of the program, presenters will come from various colleges and technical schools and talk about the importance of attending their programs. During the next session, Littles will be placed in an example of a professional dining environment where they will be taught proper etiquette at the table and discuss topics related to ethics. For the last week of the academy, the Littles will be given certificates for completion and participate in Bowl for Kids’ Sake on April 9th as a graduation celebration!

Applications are due February 16th. Apply today!
